BALANCE

The model BALANCE simulates growth of single trees under variable environmental conditions (CO2, climate, soil, competition), including stress (O3) and parasite influence. It is meant to assess the strategies for resource acquisition of different tree species, which is assumed to be a critical point in forecasts of stand development under changed conditions (e.g. temperature increase, changed thinning regime) at least if long time frames are to be judged.
